The short version: a serial number you paste in is sent to Apple to get your value, and we don’t store it.

Serial numbers

Looking up a value passes the serial number to Apple’s trade-in system, which is the only way to get an exact figure. We don’t write it to a database and we don’t keep a record of it. Apple’s answer is held in a cache for up to six hours so two people checking the same device don’t both wait on Apple, and after that it is gone. Because the lookup is an ordinary web request with the serial in its address, it also appears in our host’s standard server logs, as every request to every website does. It isn’t shared with anyone but Apple, and there is no account or identifier to attach it to you.

What’s stored in your browser

One thing: whether you chose Apple’s US or UK store, so the right currency shows next time. It stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and you can clear it with your browser’s site data. No advertising or analytics cookies are set.

Tracking

There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel and no third-party tag on this site. We don’t know who you are, where you came from, or what you looked up. Netlify, which hosts the site, keeps standard access logs on our behalf.

Links out

The Back Market link is an advertisement and leads to another company’s website, which has its own privacy policy and its own cookies. Following it tells Back Market that you arrived from here.

Children

This is a price-lookup tool for device owners and isn’t directed at children.
